"My husband and I recently had a new home constructed in Queensland (we live in WA), for investment purposes. As it was difficult for either of us to be available for the handover, we looked for someone who would be able to look over the property on our behalf .......someone who knew what to look for....to ensure we were getting what we were paying for! We discovered 'Marlee Building Inspections'. Lee was punctual and willing to accommodate our desire to have family attend the inspection with him. As soon as the inspection was completed, we were informed of all the defects discovered. Bearing in mind that this was a brand new home, we were surprised to have some quite major defects reported...fortunately, all were fixable! By the end of the day we had detailed report (with photos) emailed to us. Lee provided advice and reassurance on how to deal with the outcomes of the inspection. At the end of the day, we certainly felt it was money well spent. We were all so very excited at the beginning of our adventure but soon found out that building new homes is not an easy task with many many headaches to overcome. We had never considered arranging for a pre-hand over inspection believing that because we were using one of the best builders in the industry who in fact held the "Builder of the Year" award that it would not be necessary. Funds, like with everyone who has built would know, are very tight at this point of time so to consider another fee to pay out was a big ask. Nevertheless we decided that our homes are our biggest asset (along the lines that we would not buy a car without an RACQ inspection) so why risk our biggest ever asset. So we decided to call in Lee and have NEVER regretted it. We checked other companies out as well as MBI Marlee Building Inspections and compared fees which varied considerably from company to company. Immediately that we made contact to speak to Lee we felt confident that he was the person we most felt happy with. He was extremely extremely helpful and managed to settle us down when we were very anxious over many things that he picked up during his inspections. Lee's inspections are thorough to say the least. We were amazed at the things that Lee picked up that needed attention - there were things we would never have picked up ourselves and several were of a serious nature. Thanks to Lee's report our builder did arrange to repair/fix all points raised in Lee's report. It did set back our hand over date slightly but it was well worth it to end up with a home that we now believe is perfect. Lee's service could NOT be faulted. Everything was backed up with photos and a report within hours. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending MBI Marlee Building Inspections based on our experience with their service. I cannot stress enough how very important it is for everyone to give a pre-handover inspection very careful consideration - it will turn out to be the best money you will ever spend believe me I now know!!!
